Creating your account & starting your free trial

Signing up takes four short steps and ends with a working phone number. Here's what each step asks for, what your free trial includes, and exactly what happens when it ends.
The four signup steps
The wizard runs in a fixed order, and you can't skip ahead:
- 1Account — your name, email and a password. This is the login you'll use from then on.
- 2Business — your business name and contact details. Your agent uses the business name when it answers.
- 3Number — search for and claim your Talkybara phone number, and pick your timezone. See Choosing your phone number & timezone.
- 4Plan — choose Starter, Growth or Scale, then enter a card on a secure billing page. See Picking a plan.
After checkout you land on a one-time welcome page that asks for a short business description and a tone, then points you at call forwarding. Both of those are ordinary settings you can change any time afterwards.
What the free trial includes
Your trial runs for 14 days or 40 minutes of calls, whichever comes first. A card is required to start it, but nothing is charged during the trial itself.
The 40-minute cap is deliberately close to Starter's 50 included minutes, so the trial feels like the smallest plan rather than an unlimited demo that sets the wrong expectation.
While the trial is active, feature access is floored at the Growth tier even if you picked Starter — in practice that means full analytics and up to 3 transfer destinations instead of 1. Most features aren't tiered at all: calendar booking, services, call recording, automatic Spanish detection and the knowledge base are on every plan.
If you use all 40 minutes before day 14
Your agent stops taking new calls right away and callers hear a short message. You'll get an email and a banner on your dashboard the moment it happens.
Two ways forward:
- Wait it out. Your subscription is untouched and still starts on day 14 as scheduled — you just have a paused agent until then.
- Start your plan early. One button in Billing ends the trial immediately, charges the plan you picked, and unlocks that plan's full minutes right away.
What happens on day 14
Nothing to click. The card on file is automatically charged for the plan you chose at signup, your subscription becomes active, and your minutes reset to that plan's full allowance. That is the only automatic charge in the trial.
Cancel any time before day 14 from Billing and you won't be charged at all.
If that first charge fails
Callers hear a polite message rather than dead air, and your phone number is held, not released, for a grace window while you update your payment method. See Failed payments for the full timeline.
One trial per business
Trials are checked against a few signals together — the phone number you verify, your business details, and the card you use — rather than email alone, which is too easy to change.
If a signup matches an account that has already had a trial, you aren't blocked and you aren't charged by surprise. You'll see a plain message saying this account has already received a trial, with the option to continue on a regular paid plan instead.
Already had an account?
Sign back in with the same email rather than signing up again. Signing up under a new email creates a genuinely separate account — your old call history, contacts and transcripts stay under the original login and there's no way to move them across. If you can't remember which email you used, see Resetting your password.
