Post-call SMS summaries
One short text to your own phone after every call. The fastest way to know something happened without opening anything — and it's on every plan.
What you get
A single text, after every finished call, with the caller's name and number, what the call was about, and how it ended.
Every call means every call — including Abandoned ones where somebody hung up straight away. That's deliberate: a run of instant hang-ups is exactly the kind of thing worth noticing quickly, and you'd never spot it from a dashboard you weren't looking at.
It's deliberately kept to one message. The caller's name and number always survive; the longer the detail, the more likely the "what they wanted" part is trimmed to fit. For the full picture, open the call or read the transcript email.
Turning it on
- 1Go to Account Settings → Profile and add your personal phone number — your own mobile, not your business line.
- 2Verify it. We text you a code; enter it. Nothing sends to an unverified number.
- 3Go to Account Settings → Notifications and turn on "Text me a one-line summary after every call", then save.
Available on Starter, Growth and Scale alike — there's no plan gate on this one. The only requirement is the verified number.
If the toggle says nothing will send
That means the phone number on your Profile tab hasn't been verified yet. The toggle will stay on, but nothing goes out until verification is done.
Stopping it
Two ways, and they behave slightly differently:
- Turn the toggle off in Account Settings → Notifications. The normal way.
- Reply STOP to any of the texts. This switches the toggle off for you, straight away.
Either way the result is the same and it's permanent until you change it back. The first text you receive tells you STOP is available.
Replying START won't switch it back on
This is the one behaviour that surprises people. Texting START or UNSTOP is noted, but it does not re-enable the summaries — turning them back on is deliberately an explicit action in the dashboard.
The reason is that there's exactly one place that decides whether you get texted: the toggle in your settings. Keeping it that way means you can never be silently re-subscribed after opting out, and never silently skipped after opting back in.
STOP applies to all our texts
Replying STOP opts your number out of every kind of text from Talkybara, not just call summaries. That includes the recovery text used if you ever forget which email address your account is under — so if you've stopped texts and later can't get back in, go straight to support rather than waiting for a text that won't arrive. See Resetting your password.
SMS vs. email
They're independent — turning one on doesn't change the other, and both can run at once.
The useful split for most people: SMS for every call, so you know immediately that something happened; email transcripts for the three outcomes that actually need you, so the detail is there when you sit down. See Email notifications overview.
